Sergiev Posad town is located in 62 km from Moscow. This town is often called Russian Vatican. In XIV century, Saint Sergius Radonezhsky founded one of the biggest and most famous Russian Monasteries - the Trinity Monastery of St. Sergius. In the central Trinity Cathedral, the founder is buried. The most famous Andrew Rublev's icon - "The Trinity" was created specially for this cathedral.

Sergiev Posad - Pereyaslavl-Zalesskiy (12 hours)

The ancient Russian town Pereyaslavl-Zalesskiy is situated 65 km from Sergiev Posad, on the shore of legendary Plesheevo lake. Prince Yury Dolgoruky, who was the founder of Moscow, founded the town in 1152. This is a birthplace of the Great Russian prince - Alexander Nevsky. The town has several architectural masterpieces, including the Cathedral of Transfiguration - one of the first Russian white stoned buildings.

Vladimir - Suzdal (11-12 hours)

Vladimir is a town with more than 1000 years history. Situated in 180 km to the north from Moscow, it was the capital of ancient north-east Russia. The town was called after its founder - Kiev Prince Vladimir Svyatoslavovich. Unique memorials of XII still remain in the town - Cathedrals of Assumption and St. Demetrius Cathedral, Golden Gates, Church of the Intercession-on-Nerl in Bogolyubovo. Suzdal is situated in 30 km, it was first mentioned in the annals in 1024. This small and very quiet town was a capital of big principality, and now it looks like an ideal Russian provincial town. It has 5 monasteries, 33 churches, white stoned Kremlin, ancient wooden buildings. Suzdal is a have-to-be-seen place when traveling to Russia.
